notes

• important -------> the frame is made for aio boards that aren't square but have curved in sides. like the one from hglrc (which is out of production) in the bnf version. so when using a regular one the board touches the frame. as a result, softmounting is gone! I put standoffs under the normal ones in order to raise it above the frame. hence the long screws.
• the antenna needs to be fixed (around the housing, not the cable) to avoid oscillation windup when using a tight tune
• prop screws need to be 7mm in this motor/prop combo. 6mm only barely has one rotation for grip and 8mm might touch the windings. I just file them down with a power tool. make sure the screws on each prop are exactly the same length to not screw up balance. I've used nylon screws for weight, but I realized there's no need to tune wise and they break often.
• in order to prevent breakage I put dabs of hot glue on every point where the struts meet the ducts.
• in conclusion, the petrel85 frame is much stiffer than the mobula8, therefore it tunes way better. it also has more room around the props so you don't have to constantly bend the ducts around in order to prevent the props scratching them up. durability is about the same or slightly better than the mobula8.

project file workflow

the project file includes motion blur, superview and the grade (best for betafpv co3). open the .drp file. then:

• grade
  • go to edit page, drag in your clips and copy all clip attributes from mine to your own: right click > copy, then "paste clip attributes" (select all boxes). for overall color correction I suggest white balance & tint in the film look node if needed.
• motion blur
  • go to the fusion page and make sure you see the clips (top left, tab panel). select only your clips and make a right click on the one I put in (yeah it's offline, doesn't matter) and select "apply composition".
• superview
  • superview lives in the adjustment layers. put either one above all of your clips. the one called "OSD out" morphs the corners out both horizontally and vertically. the other one does not, only stretches horizontally (for when you don't run osd). the track comes disabled, because if it wasn't you couldn't easily work on the clips underneath. so just enable it after you finished working on the grade.
• notes
  • playback isn't possible (unless you have a supercomputer). while editing for music I turn off the grade completely (the colorful circle thing above the player) and if I wanna work on the grade I'll pause and just look at still frames. for faster loading times go to playback > "timeline playback resolution" and set it to half.
  • motion blur will take hours to render. in my opinion it's important because some effects produce weird looking streaks and motion blur covers that up.
  • the timeline resolution is set to 720p in order to avoid even longer render times (which is well above analog's resolution). I export in prores and put the finished clip in a 1440p timeline for a final h.264 export. otherwise you get a bad codec when uploading to youtube.
  • for some effects you'll need the studio version. beside the usual methods it's also possible to buy an older version for cheap and upgrade to the newest release. for instance, I bought DRS 17 and I can update to this day.
